THORNTON MANOR ESTATE WILL OPEN ITS SECLUDED GARDENS FOR THE FIRST TIME, ‘A TRULY ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE FOR ALL THE FAMILY’.
Thornton Manor Garden Walks launched in lockdown 2.0 encouraging the public to come and enjoy a relaxing stroll around the remarkable grounds of the estate, a delightful adventure for all the family. Experience the gardens original layout designed by Thomas Mawson back in the 1890’s. He worked closely with the first viscount Leverhulme to create the wonderful gardens you see today.
There are two routes to follow, the Garden walk and the Woodland walk. Within the Garden route you will encounter the Rose Garden and the famous Lime tree walkway, you can also take in the delights of the private Dell and stunning views up to the Manor house. If you follow the Woodland walk make sure you have your wellies on, it can get a little muddy, but you will experience a peaceful, lakeside wander. Of course, you can follow both routes and extend your walk.
The Rose Garden
Canine companions are most welcome and are always to be kept on leads. The daily Garden walks launched on Monday 9th November encouraging people to appreciate the grounds during their lockdown exercise and have been a huge success so far. Tickets are available to book in hourly slots from 10am until 2pm Monday to Sundays. Adults are priced at £6.00 and children at £4.00, with babies under 3 free of charge. Family tickets are also available at £20.00 including two adult and three child tickets. All proceeds will be helping to preserve and maintain the gardens and grounds.
Private lake and islands.
Thornton Manor are delighted to be partnering with Heswall Coffee House to provide the refreshments in the small café which will be located inside the Walled Garden marquee. They will be providing hot drinks, toasties, and delicious cakes. They will also offer a small range of alcoholic beverages including a hot mulled wine to warm you up after your walk. Starting from Monday 9th November 2020 running every day until the end of the year excluding Christmas Day & Boxing Day. Covid guidelines will apply, with a one-way system in place and social distancing to be maintained at all times. Please be aware the walking route is unfortunately not wheelchair friendly and areas of our woodland walk contains rough terrain.
