At Thornton Manor, we are committed to protecting the heritage of our historic estate for future generations. As part of this ongoing effort, we’ve submitted an important planning application to Wirral Council, seeking temporary permission to reinstate three event marquees on the estate. While this might seem like a straightforward request, its significance is far greater, playing a vital role in the larger effort to preserve and restore the Manor.

Thornton Manor is a Grade II* Listed Building set within a Grade II* Registered Park and Garden, and it holds a prominent place on Historic England’s “Heritage at Risk” register. Tragically, a devastating fire in 2022 caused extensive damage to parts of the estate, creating an urgent need for preservation and repair. Situated within the Green Belt, the estate has faced numerous challenges, especially in the post-pandemic economic climate, making the need for funding to carry out necessary repairs more crucial than ever.

This planning application marks the first step in what will be a complex restoration journey. Securing the required finance through this application will allow us to undertake essential works such as roof repairs, stabilisation, and other conservation efforts, ensuring the long-term preservation and enhancement of the estate.

Our goal is not only to restore the manor but to ensure it continues to serve as a hub for the community and future generations.
